ObserverBuoy 0.6m
Intelligent acoustic monitoring on a compact ocean buoy
The ObserverBuoy 0.6m is a compact yet powerful solution for real-time passive acoustic monitoring (PAM), acoustic data collection, and oceanographic measurements. Built on JASCO’s OceanObserver platform, this 0.6-metre buoy supports flexible sensor configurations, on-board data recording, and reliable data transmission to shore or nearby vessels. It is designed for both short-term, high-bandwidth deployments and longer-duration monitoring using satellite communications and can be deployed as either a moored or free-drifting system across a wide range of marine environments.
Features
Integrated OceanObserver processing and control platform
On-board recording of full bandwidth acoustic data to removable memory
Flexible support for acoustic and non-acoustic sensors or arrays
Configurable as a moored or free-drifting system
Typically equipped with up to four hydrophones, GPS, AIS, and Wi-Fi
Applications
Real-time and long-term passive acoustic monitoring (PAM)
Marine mammal presence and activity monitoring
Vessel noise monitoring and quantification
Ambient noise monitoring and baseline studies
Environmental monitoring to support regulatory compliance
Near-shore, port, and offshore monitoring programs
