OceanObserver

Real-time ocean observing and processing

High performance acoustic and oceanographic data acquisition and processing for buoys, vehicles, and other platforms:

  • Up to 16 acoustic channels at up to 8–512 ksps

  • High-speed channel at 2048 ksps (optional)

  • Excellent noise floor, stable across sample rates and bands

  • On-board processing: detections/classifications, bearing estimates, and environmental measurements

  • Local and global data telemetry: Wi-Fi, VHF, Iridium, cellular, serial, Ethernet, or acoustic modem

Customized processing & telemetry

On-board signal processing is done by PAMlab INT, the integrated version of JASCO’s PAMlab software suite: detection and identification of marine mammal calls and clicks, quantifying ambient noise and sounds from vessels and industrial noise sources, or customized processing.

For bandwidth-limited telemetry like cellular and Iridium, the OceanObserver converts the detection spectrograms into contours and ranks them by priority. The events are relayed via satellite and delivered by email.
