ALTO 2 Mooring System
Acoustic long-term observatory
The ALTO Mooring system is a self-contained, bottom-landing platform designed for autonomous, mutisensor ocean observation. Built around a rugged polyethylene frame with three deep-sea glass sphere floats, the ALTO provides a stable base for long-term data collection in demanding marine environments. Its dual acoustic release mechanism connects to a sacrificial anchor, allowing for reliable deployment and easy recovery.
Paired with an AMAR G4 Ultra Deep and external battery pack, the ALTO offers ample space and power capacity for integrating a wide range of off-the-shelf sensors. Ideal for comprehensive, multivariable ocean monitoring. Proven through extensive field deployments, the system’s single lift point ensures safe, straightforward setup: simply lower to the waterline and release for a controlled, upright freefall to the seabed.
