- James has a Master’s degree in Mathematics,
specializing in the theory and numerical solution of nonlinear partial differential
equations relevant to geophysical fluid dynamics. James originally studied Physics
at the University of Ottawa before working for five years in various engineering
roles in the industries of optoelectronics, photonics, and active medical implants,
where he gained considerable experience in experimental design and statistical process
control. James has given numerous technical presentations in industry and in academia
and has also worked as a sessional instructor of mathematics at the University of
Victoria. His scientific computing experience includes work in Matlab, Maple, R,
IDL, Fortran, C, C++, and Java. He is fluent in English and French.
