  • Bruce Martin joined JASCO in November of 2007 and now leads the development of an automated system to process acoustic data from autonomous ocean bottom sensors to quantify ambient, seismic, shipping and marine mammal activity. Bruce has worked as an acoustic sensor systems engineer since graduating from Canada’s Royal Military College in 1990. After graduation from the Naval Combat Systems Engineering program in 1993, he went to work in the Naval Sonars group at the Defence Research and Development Center (Atlantic). During this time he was involved with the integration, testing, and field evaluation of a number of new projector and sensor technologies. He also completed a Masters of Physics at Dalhousie University. In 1996 he joined MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates, where he spent two years developing an acoustic sniper detection system, and two more as the project engineer for the development of a SOSUS processing system. In 2000 he joined General Dynamics Canada and worked on a variety of advanced distributed sonar sensor processing systems. His last position there was as project engineer for the Multi-Sensor Torpedo Detection, Classification and Localization system.
