David Hannay is Vice President of JASCO Research Ltd. He has been a scientist with JASCO since 1989 and is an experienced acoustician specializing in all aspects of underwater acoustic signal measurements, signal processing and modeling. He has extensive experience in acoustic EIA directed at the environmental impacts of underwater noise generated by explosives, airgun systems, vessel noises, industrial noises and sonars. He has designed and managed numerous field monitoring programs throughout the world. David has published papers on high-resolution measurement of source levels of underwater explosives, geoacoustic methods and acoustic signal localization. He has been involved in development of specialized acoustic signal processing methods and propagation modeling methods for use at predicting noise levels from several types of industrial operations. He has developed optimized inversion methods for geoacoustic parametric classification used in seismic exploration. His work on numerical propagation models utilizing wavenumber integral methods and parabolic equation methods has led to commercial software programs that are used to predict acoustic fields from man-made noise sources.
