- Christine has researched noise effects
on marine fauna since 1993, specializing in marine mammals and fish. She has extensive
field experience and acted as chief scientist onboard. Christine has a strong physics,
engineering and digital signal processing background. She has written custom software
for sound propagation modeling, airgun array source modeling, bioacoustic impact
modeling, and automatic signal detection and identification. Christine has carried
out numerous environmental impact assessments for clients in government, industry
and academia. These assessments have included cruise ships, ferries, whale-watching
boats, icebreakers, research vessels, pipelines, seismic airguns, pile driving,
physical oceanography research signals etc. Christine has successfully designed
mitigation procedures and technology, and been involved in environmental policy
making. She has trained captive beluga whales and sea lions for research on hearing
capabilities and acoustic masking. She has a track-record of efficient project,
people and time management with all projects achieving the objectives within the
given timeframe. Apart from science research, Christine enjoys teaching, having
