- Robin was sponsored by the Royal Navy
through Manchester University, completing a Joint Honours science degree in 1988.
After passing out from Britannia Royal Navy College in July 1989 as a Sub-Lieutenant
he qualified as a Meteorologist and Oceanography Warfare officer and progressed
through multiple oceanography and acoustics posts over the following twenty years
to become the Navy’s lead acoustics, oceanography and sonar specialist. Additional
appointments included operational tours in Bosnia, support to the initial phase
of the Afghanistan conflict and more recently as an operations officer with the
United Nations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Having completed a Masters degree
in sea floor acoustic modelling in 2005 and working as the lead specialist within
the acoustic analysis team of the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory
Robin was recently awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science
and Technology and granted Chartered Scientist status. He has extensive sea-going
experience and has been involved in developing several acoustic modelling capabilities,
sonars, sonar optimisation tools and environmental mitigation systems and methodologies
for operational use. He joins Jasco as the European Operations Manager and is engaged
in developing advanced modelling techniques as well as business growth across Europe.
