Blast Physics: Numeric Modeling

Simulation

JASCO performs hydrodynamic calculations independent of experimentally measured data, including complete numerical simulations of explosions in three dimensions involving complex interactions with rigid structures.

JASCO simulates explosions inside structures as well as outside, including small explosions like those often encountered in terrorist situations. Numerical simulation is also used to calculate the generic 'environmental enhancement' or 'E' factors used by the EBlast expert system.

Reconstruction

JASCO uses a technique known as numerical reconstruction to integrate blast wave measurements made using all other methods and provide a complete description of the blast wave. Numerical reconstruction is the most comprehensive way to map all the physical properties of a blast wave as functions of time and distance in an explosive field test.

JASCO uses numerical reconstruction to describe the blast waves from specific explosions and to provide the generic databases for free air, surface burst and elevated explosions used in the AirBlast and EBlast expert systems.
